Job summary

Merseyrail is seeking a part-time Train Manager (weekends only) to join our depot network. You will be the friendly face onboard, guiding passengers, checking tickets, and delivering a high standard of customer service across Kirkdale, Southport, and Birkenhead depots.

You must commit to weekend hours (early and late shifts), complete a seven-week training programme, and help maintain safe, efficient rail travel for our customers.

Qualifications

Commitment to the stated weekend hours.
Exceptional communication and customer-service skills.
Ability to de-escalate conflicts professionally.
Self-discipline and initiative to work independently.
Punctuality and time-management in shift schedules.

Responsibilities

Be the public face of Merseyrail onboard trains.
Greet passengers and provide guidance where needed.
Check tickets and travel cards; assist with routes and connections.
Make clear onboard announcements and communicate delays.
Ensure passenger safety when boarding/alighting and handle incidents calmly.
Coordinate with Train Drivers and Control Teams to keep trains on schedule.
