Job summary

Newmedica is seeking an experienced Scrub Nurse/Practitioner to join our Leeds theatre team on a part-time basis (Saturdays and/or Sundays, 8/16 hours per week) with occasional shifts at Wakefield. The role supports cataract surgery lists, ensuring patient safety, hygiene, and efficient theatre flow.

You will scrub for ophthalmic procedures, assist the surgeon, manage medicines and audits, and help with records and waste procedures.

Qualifications

• Qualified Registered Nurse or Operating Department Practitioner with current NMC/HCPC registration.
• Ophthalmic knowledge and experience, including setup for surgery.
• Experience supporting surgeon during theatre and problem solving.

Responsibilities

• Provide competent scrub provisioning and assist the surgeon throughout the theatre list.
• Set up theatre for cataract surgery and maintain patient safety and hygiene standards.
• Maintain accurate patient records and manage clinical waste per procedures.
