Job summary

Compass Group UK is seeking a Helpdesk & Switchboard Operator for weekend shifts in High Wycombe. You will be the first point of contact for callers, managing calls, alarms and service requests while maintaining accurate logs and providing essential administrative support.

The role requires clear communication, calm handling of emergencies, and a reliable, proactive approach to ensuring critical communications run smoothly on weekends.

Qualifications

• Previous office, helpdesk or switchboard experience
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Good IT and administrative skills
• Ability to remain calm in emergency situations
• Flexible approach to working weekends and varying shift patterns

Responsibilities

• Operate a computer-based switchboard system
• Answer and manage incoming calls and service requests
• Monitor and respond to alarms, including fire, trauma and security alerts
• Record and maintain accurate information and logs
• Provide administrative and clerical support as required
• Respond confidently and professionally to emergency situations
• Liaise with internal teams and stakeholders to ensure issues are resolved efficiently
• Deliver a high standard of customer service at all times
