Job summary

South West Water Limited is hiring a Mechanical Craftsperson to maintain and repair water treatment assets, pumping stations and reservoirs. You will work hands-on to keep safe, reliable water services for communities and contribute to asset performance.

The role involves reactive maintenance, fabrication of parts, RAMS compliance, and involvement in standby rotas. A mechanical apprenticeship and proven fault-finding skills are required; wastewater process experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• Completed apprenticeship in mechanical or relevant technical discipline.
• Proven experience maintaining and repairing mechanical equipment.
• Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
• A sound understanding of RAMS and safe systems of work.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a safety-critical environment.
• Experience working within wastewater treatment processes would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Carry out reactive maintenance, repairs and fault-finding on a wide range of mechanical assets.
• Manufacture, modify and fabricate parts and equipment when required.
• Produce detailed specifications for replacement components and equipment.
• Support operational teams in diagnosing and resolving complex mechanical issues.
• Working safely and ensuring RAMS compliance.
• Participate in standby and call-out rota to support operational resilience.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of asset performance and reliability.
