Job summary

AECOM is seeking a Water Sector Lead to act as the primary ambassador for Water within Environment & Energy Europe. You will shape growth strategy, build strategic client relationships, and ensure AECOM is positioned as a partner of choice in the market.

Reporting to the EUR&I Strategy & Growth Director and as part of the Sales Senior Leadership Team, you will drive sector growth, lead major initiatives and align with cross‑regional priorities for UK and Ireland in 2027.

Qualifications

• Leading BD and growth within the Water sector in consultancy.
• Strong knowledge of Water sector dynamics, clients, emerging areas and key competitors.
• Proven ability to build and maintain high-value client relationships at senior levels.
• Strategic thinker translating vision into practical action plans.
• Seasoned capture manager with the ability to position for and secure key opportunities.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, presentation and negotiation skills.
• Experience in Water sector-related technical delivery.
• Established industry profile with the ability to act as a thought leader.
• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline.
• Membership of a recognised professional body where applicable.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership for the sector, aligning activities to EUR&I objectives with UK & Ireland focus (2027).
• Maintain knowledge of sector drivers, competition and opportunities to anticipate client needs.
• Act as sector figurehead, representing AECOM at events and client forums to raise our profile.
• Collaborate with Water sector leadership to ensure representation in strategy, targets and pursuits.
• Lead development and implementation of sector growth plans and client engagement strategies.
• Build and maintain strategic client relationships across the sector for repeat business.
• Coordinate with CAMs to align priorities and convert opportunities for YoY growth.
• Drive Work Winning strategy and secure appropriate resourcing and bid leadership.
• Ensure sector KPI attainment: bookings, revenue and client satisfaction.
• Maintain a robust opportunity pipeline with quarterly leadership updates.
