Job summary

WSP in the UK & Ireland seeks an Associate Director/Technical Director to lead our Catchment Science team on major infrastructure projects. You will direct water quality projects, mentor junior staff, and help develop business opportunities while delivering high‑quality client deliverables.

Primarily UK based and hybrid, you will collaborate across WSP's global network, apply UK regulations, and shape technical strategy with a focus on water quality, resilience, and sustainable infrastructure.

Qualifications

• Degree-level qualification in geography, geology, geochemistry, earth/environmental science, civil engineering or similar.
• Highers degree in a relevant discipline is desirable but not essential.
• You will have gained, or be working towards, chartership with a relevant professional body.

Responsibilities

• Lead the technical delivery of water quality projects across catchment scopes.
• Provide project direction including financials, change control and QA.
• Mentor, develop and supervise junior colleagues with potential for people management.
• Develop water quality training programmes with the team.
• Define scopes of services in collaboration with the Water Quality Service Lead.
• Generate high-quality bid proposals and develop client-focused solutions.
• Produce client-facing deliverables and visually communicate data insights.
• Collaborate across sectors to deliver complex water quality projects.
• Uphold a safety-first approach in line with WSP policies.
