Job summary

Morson Group is seeking a Mechanical Project Engineer in Warrington to lead mechanical deliverables on water and utilities projects, from concept through commissioning and handover. You will collaborate with Project Managers, design teams, and site crews across office, site, and remote settings.

Candidates should have a mechanical engineering qualification and experience with pumps, pipework, valves, and associated mechanical plant.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering mechanical projects in water, wastewater, utilities or process industries.
• Mechanical Engineering qualification (Degree, HNC/HND or equivalent).
• Strong knowledge of pumps, pipework, valves, tanks, dosing systems and plant.
• Experience overseeing site installation activities and subcontractor management.
• Knowledge of WIMES, WRAS, and relevant British Standards.
• Ability to interpret mechanical drawings, technical specifications, and P&IDs.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Proactive approach with the ability to solve problems and drive projects forward.
• A full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Manage mechanical engineering activities from design through to commissioning and handover.
• Coordinate installation and construction activities on water and wastewater treatment projects.
• Review and contribute to mechanical designs, specifications, risk assessments, and technical documentation.
• Support procurement activities, ensuring mechanical equipment and materials are correctly specified and delivered on programme.
• Prepare and manage Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs) and quality documentation.
• Monitor project progress and provide regular updates on programme, costs, risks, and opportunities.
• Manage technical queries and provide engineering support to site teams.
• Liaise with clients, suppliers, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders throughout project delivery.
• Support commissioning activities and ensure smooth project handover.
