Job summary

Thames Water is seeking an Instrumentation, Control & Automation (ICA) Technician to join the Water Production team. This mobile role covers Latton WTW and travels to nearby sites in the Cotswold/Swindon area, with potential wider coverage in emergencies.

You will install, commission, maintain and repair instrumentation, PLCs, and SCADA systems, ensuring water quality and plant efficiency with minimal supervision.

Qualifications

• Qualified to HNC/NVQ3 in instrumentation, control and automation (or equivalent).
• 18th Edition (BS7671) qualification desirable.
• Strong understanding of plant and control systems and safety.
• Experience with ClearSCADA, Telemetry outstations and LV systems.
• Proficient in ladder logic and PLC programming (Rockwell/Allen-Bradley).
• Ability to fault-find from diagrams and read schematics.

Responsibilities

• Install, commission, maintain and repair water production assets and instrumentation.
• Work with SCADA systems, PLCs and process control networks.
• Liaise with contractors and suppliers as needed.
• Investigate asset failures and implement rapid repairs to avoid outages.
• Provide specialist technical advice and training support for apprentices.
