NRL is currently recruiting for a Water Hygiene Technician to undertake water system planned preventive maintenance, testing, and other related activities at Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham on a permanent basis. Salary is based on experience and suitability.
General Overview:
- Undertake planned preventive maintenance, testing, breakdown maintenance, and other activities related to water systems within the estate.
- Work on a day shift from 0800 — 1600, Monday to Friday.
- The primary responsibilities will be at the Acute Hospital, with potential duties at the Retained Estate and Mental Health unit.
- Perform duties to maintain all services for the NHS Trust(s), ensuring work complies with KPIs.
Expectations within the role:
- Perform a full range of Mechanical Craftsperson (Water) tasks as directed by management.
- Work in accordance with current regulations, codes of practice, health & safety regulations, and safety rules.
- Possess knowledge of water systems in healthcare environments and related maintenance/testing activities.
- Understand Legionella and other water pathogen control measures.
- Knowledge of water storage tank cleaning and disinfection procedures.
- Conduct temperature monitoring, shower head cleaning/disinfection, visual inspections of tanks, water sampling, calorifier inspections, and T MV servicing.
- Interpret and work from instructions, drawings, and specifications relevant to the trade without supervision.
- Ensure all PPM work is completed effectively and in compliance with maintenance instructions.
- Maintain accurate records and logbooks, including updates for systems like Maximo.
- Assist in immediate corrective actions during emergencies to meet client needs and ensure safety.
- Participate in ongoing training to develop skills and meet organizational goals.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management, adhering to contact and KPI requirements.
- Engage in the appraisal system.
- Work safely off tower scaffolding, MEWPs, ladders, and within confined spaces after appropriate training.
- Receive instructions via radio and/or PDA, which may involve disruptions to work patterns.
Qualifications or Required Experience:
- Experience working in a healthcare environment (desirable).
- NVQ or C&G Level 2 in Heating/Ventilation/Plumbing.
- Training or awareness in Legionella, TMV, and disinfection procedures.
- Desirable: HTM 04 RP/CP training.
