Job summary

Liquid is seeking an experienced Water Hygiene Consultant for a permanent role based from Manchester or Leeds. The role combines technical fieldwork, client contact, and clear reporting across commercial and industrial water systems.

You will perform Legionella risk assessments under COSHH, ACoP L8, HTM 04-01 and BS 8580-1:2019, producing detailed reports and recommendations as you advise clients.

Qualifications

• At least two years’ experience carrying out Legionella risk assessments.
• Experience in Legionella consultancy is advantageous.
• Fluency in written and spoken English.
• Proficient in producing clear, comprehensive reports.
• Able to work independently with strong time-management.

Water Hygiene Consultant

Manchester or Leeds | Permanent | £50,000 package.

We are looking for an experienced Water Hygiene Consultant to join an established water safety team in a permanent role based from Manchester or Leeds.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong Legionella risk assessment experience who enjoys combining technical work, client contact and clear, practical reporting. You will work across a range of commercial and industrial water systems, helping clients understand and manage their water hygiene risks effectively.

The working arrangement and contracted hours have not been supplied. The position involves travel, including overnight stays and occasional overseas travel.

The role

You will undertake Legionella risk assessments and related consultancy in accordance with COSHH regulations, ACoP L8, HTM 04-01 and BS 8580-1:2019.

Your main responsibilities will include:

• Carrying out detailed Legionella risk assessments across client sites
• Assessing risks associated with commercial and industrial water systems
• Producing schematic drawings and accurate final documentation
• Preparing comprehensive client reports
• Recommending measures to eliminate, reduce and manage water hygiene risks
• Attending client meetings to explain findings and provide suitable advice
• Working with internal teams and external stakeholders
• Managing your workload independently while contributing to the wider team

About you

You will need at least two years' experience carrying out Legionella risk assessments. Experience gained within a Legionella consultancy would be particularly useful.

You must also have:

• An approved Legionella risk assessment qualification, such as City & Guilds, BOHS or WMSoc
• A good working knowledge of ACoP L8, HTM 04-01 and other relevant guidance
• A clear understanding of risk assessment principles and their application to Legionella control
• Good knowledge of commercial and industrial water systems, water supplies and relevant regulations
• The ability to produce clear, comprehensive reports
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• The confidence to discuss findings and recommendations directly with clients
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office
• Fluency in written and spoken English
• The ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Flexibility to travel, stay away overnight and travel abroad when required

Experience across several sectors, including education, healthcare and commercial environments, would be advantageous. Exposure to a range of water systems, such as evaporative cooling systems, hot and cold water services, spas, hot tubs and swimming pools, would also be valuable.

Additional experience in indoor air quality or other water-related pathogens, including Pseudomonas aeruginosa and E. coli, would be welcome but is not essential.
