Job summary

BJF Group is a UK-based multidiscipline Main Contractor. We are seeking a Handyman within our Facilities Management division to perform scheduled flushing of rarely used water outlets, follow Legionella control procedures, and maintain accurate compliance records across client sites.

The role requires an L8 End User Qualification and a basic trade qualification in building services, with experience in planned preventative maintenance. Competitive salary and benefits package offered.

Responsibilities

• Conduct scheduled flushing of infrequently used water outlets and fixtures.
• Follow Legionella control procedures and flushing schedules.
• Record flushing activities using logbooks, CAFM or electronic records.
• Measure and record water temperatures as required.
• Identify and report defects or anomalies affecting water hygiene.
• Maintain compliance records for audits and inspections.
• Adhere to safety practices and assist with Legionella risk control.
• Carry out PPM duties as directed by supervision.

Within our Facilities Management division, the Southeast Core team plays a crucial role in the day-to‑to‑day delivery of reactive and preventative works across a diverse range of properties and systems within our client's sites - as a Handyman To carry out routine flushing of infrequently used outlets and water systems in accordance with the organisation's Legionella management plan, ensuring compliance with the Health and Safety Executive's Approved Code of Practice L8 and HSG274 guidance.

Position

• Conduct scheduled flushing of infrequently used water outlets, including taps, showers, and other water fixtures.
• Follow site-specific Legionella control procedures and flushing schedules.
• Record all flushing activities accurately using logbooks, compliance software, or electronic records. (CAFM system).
• Measure and record water temperatures where required.
• Identify and report any defects, leaks, poor water flow, unusual temperatures, or other concerns affecting water hygiene.
• Maintain compliance records for audit and inspection purposes.
• Follow safe working practices and organisational health and safety procedures at all times.
• Support Legionella risk control measures and cooperate with external water hygiene contractors where required.
• Escalate any non‑compliance issues immediately to management.
• Carry out PPM duties as set out by supervisory staff.
