Job summary

AtkinsRéalis UK Limited is seeking an experienced Design Manager to lead water infrastructure design teams across the UK. You will ensure high‑quality, compliant designs from concept to delivery and act as a technical mentor within a collaborative multi-disciplinary environment.

You will oversee deliverables, drive complex design inputs, and collaborate with clients and internal teams. A focus on safety, innovation and meeting project milestones will be essential, with hybrid working and clear

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil Engineering required; Chartered status desirable.
• Proven experience leading design teams within consultancy and multi‑disciplinary projects.
• Knowledge of CDM, Eurocodes, NEC and water industry requirements.
• Ability to develop innovative, practical solutions to complex engineering challenges.
• Strong risk management and change control understanding with commercial awareness.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate engineering design teams to deliver water and wastewater infrastructure designs.
• Oversee production and review of technical deliverables (reports, drawings, calculations, scopes).
• Drive design inputs on complex projects while managing milestones, timeframes and budgets.
• Collaborate with clients, project managers and wider teams to achieve outcomes.
• Mentor and develop junior engineers and provide technical guidance.
• Support bid submissions and ensure QA and design reviews are followed.
