Job summary

Powys County Council is seeking a Waste & Recycling Supervisor to lead the depot team in Montgomery, ensuring efficient refuse and recycling collection services for Powys residents.

You will manage day-to-day operations, supervise staff and contractors, deliver toolbox talks, and maintain safety with risk assessments and reports to the Area Manager North. This role demands leadership, organisation and flexibility.

Qualifications

• Experience in supervisory role and staff management.
• Knowledge of waste legislation and health and safety requirements.
• Strong communication and presentation skills.
• Ability to lead and motivate a team in a fast-paced setting.
• Willingness to work outside normal hours when needed.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate day-to-day collection operations for refuse and recycling.
• Manage staff performance and identify training needs.
• Deliver toolbox talks and enforce safety measures.
• Develop data collection, monitoring, and reporting for the Area Manager North.
• Maintain stock control and supervise vehicles and equipment.
