Job summary

University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust is seeking a reliable Shift Operator/Driver to support the incineration department as part of the NHSP Bank. The role covers handling hazardous and non-hazardous waste, operating the incinerator, weighing, and adhering to safety standards.

Full training will be provided; the post is temporary with a rolling 4 on/4 off day/night pattern and requires the ability to work both days and nights. A full UK driving licence is essential.

Qualifications

• Full UK driving licence is required.
• Experience in waste management or facilities is desirable but not essential.
• Ability to work safely in physically demanding environments.
• Reliable, team-focused, and able to work a rolling 24-hour shift pattern.

Responsibilities

• Operate the incinerator safely within required parameters.
• Accept, check and process hazardous and non-hazardous waste.
• Safely offload vehicles and operate the weighbridge system.
• Support plant operations in hot, dusty and physically demanding environments.
• Assist with plant maintenance and general site duties.
• Follow all Health & Safety procedures, risk assessments and PPE requirements.
• Carry out manual handling and other operational duties as required.
• Operate a forklift (where qualified).
