REPORTS TO: Warehouse & Distribution Manager
Job Purpose:
To coordinate all warehouse activities to ensure all required finished goods stock is picked, loaded and despatched in-line with customer commitment dates on the order book. Provide visible leadership and drive improvements in all aspects of warehouse processes and drive all continuous improvement activities. Consistent service levels daily are key. Execute high standards of team leadership and organisation for planning of the warehouse workload to deliver world-class picking accuracy, finished goods stock control, order fulfilment and on-time delivery to customers. Ensure warehouse standards, workplace organisation (housekeeping), team skill levels, quality and delivery performance targets are consistently achieved. Provide effective communication across the business. Provide fast resolution to any warehouse issues, stock shortages or non-conformances raised and execute improvements quickly. Drive an Operations Excellence culture adopting best practice standards, warehouse layout, stock control systems, shift patterns and embracing new technology.
Key Accountabilities:
- Responsible for all warehouse activities to optimise safe working, picking accuracy, finished goods stock control, order fulfilment, and on-time delivery to customers.
- Ensure consistent service levels are maintained daily, along with excellent housekeeping standards.
- Ensure clarity, competency and ownership for all key warehouse activities and tasks.
- Lead the introduction of best practice warehouse techniques including the implementation of workplace organisation, stock locations, layout and any improvements identified for the warehouse management system (WMS).
- Evaluate all warehouse process improvements and execute corrective action plans.
- Lead projects for the introduction of best practice warehouse standards, layout, picking processes, stock control and implementing new technology.
- Ensure KPI targets for the Warehouse are consistently achieved daily.
- Provide training and coaching in new warehouse processes and systems as required.
- Develop and execute new standard operating procedures, care points and quality alerts in the warehouse.
- Ensure all WMS systems data is accurate and maintained.
- Excellent standards of leadership, warehouse standards and communication.
- Demonstrate a positive attitude, lead by example and action improvements quickly.
- Promote new ideas, continuous improvement, and learning.
- Ensure full compliance with UK HSE Regulations and Swish quality standards.
- Responsible for effective and timely response to any customer concerns raised.
- Ensure a safe working environment with the goal of zero harm to employees.
- You will be required to be flexible with ad-hoc duties as and when required.
Key Experiences and Skills Required:
- Good practical understanding of warehouse supervision, warehouse systems, safe working practices, warehouse quality standards, picking accuracy and application in a fast-paced environment.
- Good communication, engagement & rapport with employees at all levels is essential.
- Good working knowledge of WMS systems to organise efficient and accurate picking activities.
- Application of best practice warehouse processes and 5S workplace organisation.
- +3 years’ experience leading warehouse activities in a fast-paced environment.
- Computer literate with excellent MS Office skills.
Desirables Skills, Qualifications and Experience Required:
- IOSH managing safely, but not essential.
- Relevant warehouse or supervisory qualifications.
- Experienced in delivering good standards of warehouse performance in a fast-paced environment.
