Job summary

Great Bear is recruiting a Warehouse Shift Manager to support the Operations Manager in running a busy site. You will drive safety, quality and efficiency, ensuring goods are received, stored and dispatched to high standards.

Working Monday to Friday, 14:00–22:00, you will lead a large shift team, deliver regular briefings, and maintain KPI excellence while upholding company policies and continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

• Previous warehouse operational experience.
• Experience of managing, supporting and motivating a large team.
• Proven experience of all aspects of people management including probationary, attendance, performance and disciplinary matters.
• Experience of managing teams and prioritising a tight and challenging workload.
• Knowledge and experience of safe working practice inclusive of all Health and Safety elements.
• Ability to work efficiently and accurately under pressure.
• Good IT skills, Microsoft packages and WMS.
• Previous 3PL experience is highly advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Manage and motivate the shift team to ensure productivity and service KPIs are met or exceeded.
• Uphold health, safety and hygiene standards and maintain required paperwork.
• Maintain quality and audit standards across the site.
• Deliver briefings and gather input from shifts on issues and improvements.
• Oversee Goods Inwards to ensure fast, damage-free receipts so stock is available.
• Develop team members and implement succession planning.
• Conduct disciplinary and grievance interviews and investigations per policy.
• Monitor sickness absence and conduct return-to-work interviews.
• Monitor time and attendance system and provide regular performance feedback.
• Plan manpower, overtime and agency staffing for efficient operation.
• Enforce company policies and health & safety training on shift.
• Support management with ad-hoc duties within the Warehouse.
