Job summary

Great Bear, part of the Culina Group, is seeking a Warehouse Shift Manager to support the Operations Manager in running the site, ensuring health and safety and that goods are picked and dispatched to KPI standards. This is a full-time, permanent role with 4 on 4 off nights 18:00-06:00.

You will lead a shift team, drive productivity and safe working practices, and ensure compliance, quality, and timely stock receipts to meet customer expectations.

Qualifications

• Previous warehouse operational experience.
• Experience of managing, supporting and motivating a large team.
• Proven experience of all aspects of people management including probationary, attendance, performance and disciplinary matters.
• Experience of managing teams and prioritising a tight and challenging workload.
• Knowledge and experience of safe working practice inclusive of all Health and Safety elements.
• Ability to work efficiently and accurately under pressure.
• Good IT skills, Microsoft packages and WMS.
• Previous 3PL experience is highly advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Manage and motivate the shift team in order to ensure that productivity and service KPI’s are achieved or exceeded.
• Ensure the highest possible levels of health, safety and hygiene are upheld so that legislative and quality requirements can be complied with, ensuring relevant paperwork is completed and retained.
• Ensuring the highest levels of Quality and compliance are maintained and that the site operates to the Audit standard required.
• Deliver communication briefings so that all shifts are aware of all Company and local issues and employees are able to offer input / improvements and feel involved.
• Manage Goods Inwards area to ensure that receipts are made quickly and without damaging goods so that stock is available to satisfy orders.
• Develop all team members so that their contributions to the Warehouse can be maximised and succession plan.
• Carry out disciplinary / grievance interviews and investigations in line with Company procedure.
• Monitor and control sickness absence levels in line with Company policy and carry out return to work interviews effectively and efficiently.
• Monitor and control time and attendance system.
• To offer regular feedback, formal and informal, on team and individual performance, including behavioural issues and highlighting good performance and areas for further development.
• Man power planning, by ensuring the appropriate levels of overtime and agency workers to efficiently and cost effectively run the shift.
• Enforce and adhere all Company policies and procedures.
• Monitor and control training for teams, ensuring the correct amount of health & safety representation on shift, i.e. First Aiders, Fire Marshals etc.
• Support Management in any ad-hoc duties within the Warehouse function.
