Job summary

IGB Group is seeking a Warehouse Operations Manager for a major logistics and distribution site in the UK. The role oversees a large, fast-paced warehouse from intake through to despatch and requires strong leadership and SAP expertise.

The position is a 3-month fixed-term contract with a Monday–Friday schedule. The successful candidate will manage around 100 permanent staff and coordinators, drive safety initiatives, and report on operational metrics to directors.

Responsibilities

• Lead a large team and oversee a busy warehouse operation from intake to despatch.

• Drive health and safety initiatives and conduct investigations and reviews as needed.
• Train and use Warehouse Management Systems (SAP) to monitor inventory accuracy and productivity.
• Coordinate with stakeholders to streamline workflows and optimize dispatch procedures.
• Implement improvements to boost warehouse efficiency and performance.
• Provide regular updates to senior management on key metrics.

Role Overview

We are currently recruiting for a high-performing Warehouse Operations Manager to join a major logistics and distribution leader on a 3-month fixed term contract at their modern site in Lymedale. This is a crucial leadership position overseeing a large, fast-paced warehousing operation from intake through to despatch. The salary on offer is forty to fifty thousand pounds prorated, working Monday to Friday with working hours dependent on the candidate.

Key Responsibilities

• Effectively manage a large team of around one hundred permanent staff and warehouse coordinators across a busy shift operation.
• Oversee daily warehouse functions including intake, storage, inventory control, and transport logistics.
• Drive health and safety initiatives, lead formal investigations, and conduct disciplinary hearings and probation reviews.
• Utilize and train team members on Warehouse Management Systems, specifically SAP, to monitor and improve inventory accuracy and productivity.
• Coordinate cross-departmental collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to streamline workflows and optimize dispatch procedures.
• Implement innovative methods and targeted staff development to boost overall warehouse efficiency and performance.
• Conduct regular reviews with senior management and company directors to report on key operational metrics.

Requirements

• Extensive experience in warehouse operations management, ideally within a fast-moving logistics or distribution environment.
• Strong proficiency in SAP or similar advanced Warehouse Management Systems.
• Proven track record of managing large teams, coaching colleagues, and driving continuous improvement.
• Exceptional leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to commit to a 3-month fixed term contract and hit the ground running.
