Job summary

The Air Ambulance Service is seeking a Warehouse Operative (Donation Sorter) in Rugby to support a brand-new hub for retail operations. The role involves loading/unloading stock, sorting donations, and ensuring items are handled safely and logged accurately.

You will work 37.5 hours per week in a hands-on warehouse environment, with opportunities to contribute ideas for efficiency and to support other departments as needed. A DBS check is required for this position.

Qualifications

• Regular manual handling of heavy and bulky items.
• Ability to prioritise and manage workload in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience completing stock sheets or basic admin tasks.
• Strong teamwork, clear communication, and self-motivation.
• Conscientious and reliable with good attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload stock donations, ensuring goods are stored correctly.
• Identify and report damaged, missing, or unsuitable items.
• Assist with organisation and safe movement of stock in the warehouse.
• Adhere to systems for processing incoming goods and stock for sale or distribution.
• Check, weigh, and log stock data for invoicing and reporting.
• Maintain a clean, safe warehouse environment using initiative and teamwork.
• Collaborate with Warehouse and Workflow Team Leader to meet daily/weekly targets.
• Provide cross-support to other departments, including retail, when needed.
• Ensure all manual handling is performed safely per policies.
• Assist with waste management and recycling of donated items.

What You’ll Be Doing:

• Load and unload stock donations, ensuring goods are handled carefully and stored in the correct locations
• Identify and report damaged, missing, or unsuitable items in line with charity procedures.
• Assist with the organisation and safe movement of stock within the warehouse.
• Adhere to systems for processing incoming goods and preparing stock for sale or onward distribution.
• Check, weigh, and log stock data to ensure accurate recording for invoicing and reporting.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and efficient warehouse environment, using initiative and teamwork to support flow.
• Work proactively with the Warehouse and Workflow Team Leader to meet daily/weekly objectives
• Provide occasional cross-support to other departments, including retail, when requested.
• Ensure all manual handling activities are completed safely and in line with company policies.
• Assist with waste management and recycling processes, maximising the value of donated items wherever possible.
• Contribute ideas for improving warehouse efficiency, stock flow, and working practices.

What We’re Looking For:

Essential

• Comfortable with regular manual handling of heavy and bulky items
• Ability to prioritise and manage workload in a fast-paced environment
• Experience completing, stock sheets, or basic admin tasks
• Strong team player, clear communicator, and self-motivated contributor
• Conscientious and reliable, with good attention to detail

Desirable

• Prior experience working with donations, second‑hand goods, or in a charity environment
• Experience supporting volunteers or working in a team with varied abilities
• Ability to identify items of high value or suitability for online resale
