Job summary

Iron Mountain is seeking an experienced Warehouse Operative and Shunter to support efficient warehouse operations and safe movement of trailers and vehicles on site. You will help ensure smooth goods flow, maintain a safe workplace, and uphold high client standards.

The role requires prior warehouse and logistics experience, with yard shunter duties and a valid shunter qualification or HGV licence where required. Desirable are MHE licences and strong attention to health and safety practices.

Job description

We are looking for an experienced and reliable Warehouse Operative and Shunter to join our Warehousing and Logistics team. This dual-role position is responsible for supporting efficient warehouse operations while safely moving trailers and vehicles around the site. As a key member of the team, you will help ensure the smooth flow of goods, maintain a safe working environment, and contribute to the high standards our clients expect from Iron Mountain. Your Role in Our Mission

• Carry out a variety of warehouse duties, including receiving, storing, picking, packing, and dispatching goods.
• Load and unload trailers and containers safely and efficiently.
• Move, stack, and organise pallets within the warehouse to maximise storage capacity.
• Operate warehouse equipment where authorised and in accordance with site procedures.
• Perform stock counts and support inventory management activities.
• Use warehouse systems and equipment, including voice picking technology where applicable.
• Ensure all items are packed, labelled, and prepared accurately for shipment.
• Safely shunt trailers, containers, and vehicles around the yard and between loading bays in line with site procedures.
• Carry out pre-use vehicle and trailer safety checks and report any defects promptly.
• Liaise with warehouse, transport, and operational teams to ensure trailers are positioned according to operational requirements.
• Maintain a clean, organised, and safe warehouse and yard environment.
• Comply with all health and safety policies, site rules, and company procedures at all times.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues to achieve operational targets and customer service standards.
• Previous experience in a warehouse and logistics environment.
• Experience as a yard shunter or in a similar vehicle movement role.
• A valid shunter qualification, HGV licence (where required), or relevant experience in moving trailers safely within a yard environment.
• MHE licences (such as Reach, PPT, LLOP, Bendi, VNA, or Counterbalance) are desirable.
• A good understanding of warehouse health and safety practices.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
• The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Good communication skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced operational environment.
• Flexibility to undertake both warehouse and yard duties as business needs require.
