Job summary

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is seeking a Ward Support Coordinator to maintain a clean, safe ward and manage stock, catering coordination, and equipment monitoring at Glasgow Royal Infirmary. The role requires collaboration with ward staff, procurement, pharmacy and external suppliers.

Permanent, 36 hours per week, Monday to Friday, day shift. The post emphasises non‑clinical support services and patient dignity and confidentiality in a busy hospital ward.

Qualifications

• Experience in healthcare wards, supplies, stores or support services environments.
• Knowledge of stock control, inventory management and ordering processes.
• Understanding of cleanliness, infection prevention, and environmental standards in healthcare.
• Good organisational and time management with ability to prioritise workload.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills for multidisciplinary teams.
• Ability to maintain accurate records and support audit processes.
• Experience with procurement, supply chain, or ordering systems is desirable.
• Awareness of health and safety relating to equipment, storage and manual handling.
• Basic IT skills including electronic ordering and inventory systems.
• Commitment to delivering high standards of customer service to patients and visitors.
• Willingness to undertake NHS mandatory training.
• Understanding of confidentiality and person-centred care.

Responsibilities

• Manage stock levels, consumables and ward supplies to meet patient and service needs.
• Coordinate catering and non-clinical services on the ward.
• Monitor equipment, plan maintenance, and report faults.
• Support audits and respond to invoice queries.
• Ensure cleanliness and infection prevention in ward areas.
• Liaise with procurement, pharmacy, clinical teams and suppliers.
