Job summary

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) invites applications for a Pharmacy Support Worker at Glasgow Royal Infirmary. The role involves dispensing medicines, supporting stock control, and assisting in a busy ward-based pharmacy service across acute hospital settings.

Permanent role, 36 hours per week, on-site with training opportunities through the SVQ in Pharmacy Services Group Award and a comprehensive on-the-job training programme lasting about 18 months.

Qualifications

• General education with 3 Standard Grades including English and Maths.
• Good numeracy and literacy skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively using clear written and spoken English.
• Basic IT skills.
• Ability to plan, organise and prioritise workload using initiative.

Responsibilities

• Label and dispense medicines after pharmacist screening for inpatient and outpatient use.
• Process ward requisitions and maintain accurate medicine balances.
• Support stock management: stock checks, rotation and expiry monitoring.
• Coordinate ward stock top-ups and assist with medicines housekeeping, minimise waste.
