Job summary

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is seeking a Healthcare Support Worker for Ward 47 in the Plastic Surgery Unit at Glasgow Royal Infirmary. The role supports the delivery of safe, patient-centered care within a fast-paced clinical environment as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Permanent, 36 hours per week, rotating 12-hour shifts including early, late and twilight. Visa sponsorship may be considered for eligible roles; applicants must state right to work in their application.

Qualifications

• Experience in a healthcare or caring role.
• Caring, compassionate and patient-focused approach.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
• Ability to work flexibly in a busy and changing clinical environment.
• SVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care, or willingness to work towards achieving this qualification.
• Willingness to complete relevant clinical competencies, including venepuncture and cannulation, with training support provided where required.

Responsibilities

• Working closely with registered nurses, medical staff and other colleagues to deliver safe, effective and person-centred care.
• Assist patients with activities of daily living while promoting dignity, comfort and independence.
• Support registered nurses in delivering clinical care.
• Observe, record and report changes in patient condition.
• Maintain a safe and clean care environment, contributing to patient safety and quality standards.
• Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to achieve positive patient outcomes.
• Communicate effectively with patients, relatives and colleagues.
