Job summary

Cygnet Kenney House is seeking a Ward Manager (RMN) to lead a women’s mental health ward. The role focuses on clinical leadership, service improvement, and monitoring registration of qualified staff. A Monday–Friday 40-hour week is expected with an enhanced DBS check required.

Lead practice improvement, audit practice, and develop action plans while ensuring patient confidentiality and engagement with patients, carers, and families. DBS clearance is essential.

Qualifications

• Registered RMN with current NMC PIN.
• Experience in an in-patient setting.
• Experience leading change and managing staff development.
• Knowledge of the Mental Health Act and safeguarding.
• Enhanced DBS check required.

Responsibilities

Job description

Ward Manager (RMN) post at Cygnet Kenney House, a hospital for women with mental health needs run by Cygnet Health Care. The job centres on leading the ward, overseeing clinical service improvement, auditing practice and driving action plans, and monitoring the registration of qualified nursing staff. The hospital has three wards, including a psychiatric intensive care unit and an acute service, and the role follows a Monday to Friday day pattern of 40 hours. An enhanced DBS check is required.

What the job involves

• Lead and oversee the delivery of high-quality care on the ward
• Drive improvement strategies across all clinical service provision
• Set up and maintain monitoring of professional nursing practice, including PIN numbers and registration of qualified staff
• Make suggestions and recommendations to the Hospital Manager on the ward's development
• Carry out audits and develop, follow up and complete action plans
• Contribute to planned visits to the ward by professional visitors
• Ensure service evaluation is based on the views of patients, carers and families
• Advise non-clinical hospital staff on managing patients with mental illness
• Ensure patients' rights to confidentiality are respected and Cygnet and professional policies are followed
