Job summary

Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Ward Clerk for the King George V ward at North Devon District Hospital. The role is full-time on a fixed-term basis until 08/10/2027, with some weekend work and part-time options for the right candidate. NHS experience is desirable but not essential.

The Ward Clerk will perform general ward reception duties, manage Medical Records, support the multidisciplinary team and ensure timely communication of information across services.

We currently have a full-time vacancy for the position of Ward Clerk within our team on King George V ward at North Devon District Hospital. Part-time hours would be considered for the right candidate.

We are a busy 24 bedded Emergency Surgical Assessment Unit caring for emergency admissions in the specialities of Colorectal, Urology and Gynaecology including early pregnancy complications. Within the Ward we have a separate Ambulatory Assessment Unit taking admissions from the Emergency Department and GP referrals and a Surgical Emergency Outpatient Clinic and our staff work with all of these areas. As a team, we strive for excellence in everything that we do; incorporating the 6 Cs in our Nursing.

The successful candidate will need to possess good keyboard skills and experience of working in a busy, challenging environment.The role will include general ward reception duties such as answering the telephone to enquiries, ordering stock, escalating IT issues and management of Medical Records, assisting all members of the Multidisciplinary team and communicating relevant information in a timely way.

We are looking to recruit staff that have exceptional IT and record keeping skills, and a knowledge regarding confidentiality and data protection. If you believe you have good customer service skills with a pleasant and professional telephone manner the please apply. NHS experience is desirable but not essential.

Working Pattern: 37.5 hours per week including some weekends

This is a fixed term contract until 08/10/2027. For current NHS employees this post could be a secondment opportunity.
