A leading healthcare provider in London is seeking a dedicated Ward Administrator to support the smooth operation of the ward. The role involves managing patient inquiries, maintaining records, and ensuring efficient communication within the team. To assist the Ward Sister/Charge Nurse with general ward administration and clerical duties to ensure the smooth running of the ward as required.
First point of contact for patients, their friends, and families, ensuring messages are passed on appropriately and promptly.
Deal with patients in a mature manner when speaking to them on the phone and face to face, including handling distressed patients with sensitivity and reassurance.
Maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
Register patient details on Cerner with high data accuracy.
Admit and discharge patients on Cerner and EPRS systems.
Handle written and telephone inquiries for the wards.
Book follow-up appointments as required.
Participate in administrative duties such as managing the answer phone, cancellation emails, post, date stamping, photocopying, and scanning, ensuring referral letters are sent or taken to the appropriate departments.
Book hospital transport for patients according to the hospital Transport Policy and liaise with the Transport team for inquiries.
Provide cover for colleagues during leave, sickness, and busy periods, which may involve working at different sites.
Order all stock for services within the site as relevant.
Maintain skills in ordering via the SBS system.
Receive all goods on arrival, notify appropriate personnel, and ensure goods are stored securely until collection.
Ensure equipment for repair has the correct paperwork and notifications sent to the appropriate department.
