Job Overview

INTERNAL ONLY


An exciting and unique opportunity has arisen to join us in the new Elective Hub at The Princess Royal Hospital, Telford. This purpose-built Elective Hub opened on 10th June, and we are looking to expand our team to support this new area. You will be part of a small team of ward clerks and reception staff working to facilitate the patient journey through the Elective Hub.

Main duties of the job

The successful applicant should have experience dealing with the general public, possess good IT skills, and remain calm under pressure. Flexibility within the contracted hours is required, including providing cover for annual leave and sickness. Full training will be provided.


  • Welcome new patients into the Elective Hub, verify their details on records, and ensure notes are in order. Ensure identity bracelets are available for nursing staff. Prepare sets of required blank documentation for elective patients.
  • Answer phone calls and respond to questions or requests appropriately.
  • Request, collect, or deliver notes from/to various departments as needed.
  • Order transport for patients as requested by nursing staff, completing appropriate paperwork.
  • Ensure records are correctly compiled and completed following patient discharge.
  • Update demographics for admitted, transferred, and discharged patients electronically and manually. Ensure that CareFlow demographics accurately reflect the unit's bed state.
  • Collaborate with the MDT to ensure the smooth operation of the Elective Hub, maintaining high standards, effective communication, and ensuring health, safety, and cleanliness standards are upheld.
