Extraordinary Days Every Day

We welcome applicants from backgrounds such as education, youth work, childcare, healthcare, social care, learning disabilities, SEN and community service.

At Inspire, being a Support Worker means more than a job - it’s a chance to shape young lives. Based in our established and friendly home in Cannock, you’ll support children and young people (ages 3 to 18) with learning disabilities to feel safe, valued and inspired.

Waking night shifts will require daily interaction with our young people, assisting them with activities in and around the service, though less than a day shift would. Some days may be challenging, but every smile and every breakthrough makes it worthwhile.

What You’ll Do

As a Support Worker you will support our young people with their night time and morning routines. This may include helping to get them ready for bed time and for school in the morning, prepping for meal times, personal care through the night and generally being there when needed to offer a helping hand and a listening ear. How do we do this...

  • Create a warm, homely environment by helping with light housekeeping
  • Build strong, meaningful relationships and provide emotional support
  • Be there in the night if the young people need you
  • Keep essential records and maintain care plans
  • Be an active listener ensuring each child is treated as an individual - we don't do a one size fits all approach

New staff must be comfortable using an electronic care recording system on a daily basis to document, monitor, and update children and young people’s records accurately. Experience with Clearcare is an advantage, but not essential, as full training will be provided. However, all staff are expected to confidently use digital systems as part of their day-to-day role.

A little about Daisybrook

A nurturing 8 bedroom children’s residential home that prides itself on creating a family environment where our young people feel a genuine sense of love and belonging. Our setting is able to meet a wide range of complex needs with care and support delivered by a team of staff who are committed to their roles, responsibilities and the wonderful children who live here.

We recognise that each child’s journey is very different. There is no milestone too small to celebrate for our young people and every day the home is filled with laughter and encouragement. Our strength lies in our ability to remain child focused and in touch with their developing needs.

You will be an anchor of support - built on trust, communication, and the shared commitment to the young people. We support each other through open dialogue and reflective practice. Whether it’s stepping in during a difficult moment, celebrating a child’s progress or simply checking on a colleague’s wellbeing, the team pulls together instinctively.

People we support will have learning disabilities, Autism, epilepsy and can display some associated behaviours. Many of our children (not all) are non-verbal or have limited communication and will communicate with us through different methods such as picture boards, Smartbox devices and Makaton. Training is provided.

Who You Are

You will be a naturally supportive person who is able to take satisfaction from seeing our young people develop. We're looking for people who genuinely care and want to make that difference. Warm, patient, a great listener and encourager - focused on achieving outcomes for others. Taking pride in knowing you are helping to shape someone's life for the better.

  • Previous experience is preferred or maybe you have cared for a friend or family member
  • Full UK driving licence is essential
  • Open to ongoing development and learning with help from your friendly team
  • Excellent communication skills both verbally and written
  • Someone with the desire to take pride in helping others
