Job summary

SMT is seeking a Field Service Engineer to join our Customer Support team, servicing Volvo construction equipment across Duxford and surrounding areas. You will diagnose, maintain, and repair machines at customer sites, delivering outstanding service and maximising uptime.

The successful candidate will hold NVQ Level 3 in Plant Maintenance or related discipline, have heavy equipment experience, and hold a full UK driving licence with willingness to travel and work overtime.

Qualifications

NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Plant Maintenance, Agricultural Engineering, HGV Maintenance, or a related engineering discipline.
Experience maintaining and repairing heavy construction plant equipment.
Excellent fault-finding skills and ability to work independently in the field.

Responsibilities

Service, maintain, diagnose, and repair Volvo construction equipment within your region.
Identify and resolve mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and engine faults using diagnostic equipment.
Act as primary point of contact for customers, providing updates and recommended actions.
Complete all job documentation accurately and in real time.
Maintain safety, professionalism, and compliance with company policies on site.
