A community support organization in Birkenhead is seeking an Alcohol Group Worker to facilitate group interventions aimed at aiding individuals in their recovery journey. The applicant should possess skills in supportive communication and empathy, and be willing to engage deeply with service users. Training will be provided, and a passion for supporting recovery is essential.
At Change Grow Live, we believe that structured group work is a powerful tool in the recovery process. As an Alcohol Group Worker, you will play a key role in facilitating and supporting a range of group interventions designed to assist individuals in their recovery journey. This will include relapse prevention groups, pre-detox groups, and post-detox groups.
We are a free and confidential drug and alcohol service for adults, young adults, families, carers, and affected others across the Wirral. We provide a non-judgemental service, with qualified, experienced staff and volunteers who offer support in health & wellbeing and substance misuse. We can talk to you in several supportive environments, all of which have a friendly atmosphere, and provide you with information to help you reduce your substance misuse or to become abstinent.
We are part of Change Grow Live, a national health and social care charity which provides a range of treatment, recovery, and support services for those who have concerns about their drug or alcohol use.
Volunteers contribute to Change Grow Live in various ways, including Admin Volunteers, Service User Reps, Peer Mentors, Healthcare Support Volunteers, Independent Visitors, and Community Mentors. Each volunteer brings a unique set of skills and talents. We are incredibly grateful for all that volunteers do to support our service users.
If there isn’t a specific volunteering role listed for your area, or if you have a skill you would like to donate, you can use this listing to express your interest.
Most of our volunteer opportunities don’t require special qualifications. We will provide all necessary training and support. We only ask that you are kind, open-minded, and passionate about supporting people.
Everyone is welcome at Change Grow Live. As a volunteer, you will be treated with respect and accepted for who you are. You don’t need personal experience of drug and alcohol recovery to get involved.
As an Alcohol Group Worker, you will work closely with service users to help them engage with treatment, build recovery-focused skills, and develop long-term coping strategies. You will also provide one-to-one support where needed and contribute to the development and review of group content to ensure it meets the needs of those accessing our services.
