Job summary

Serco is seeking an AFRS Vetting Specialist to join our team in Solihull. This hybrid, office-based role focuses on vetting and coordination for UK Armed Forces recruitment, acting as first escalation for complex cases while maintaining AFRS processes.

You will perform QA, coach Vetting Administrators, deputise for the Team Manager, and help raise standards across the team while handling sensitive information with care and confidentiality.

Qualifications

• Substantial practical experience of vetting, pre-employment screening or related regulated service.
• Detailed working knowledge of BPSS and UKSV processes, including identity and criminality checks.
• Experience with quality checking, audits or assurance controls and providing feedback.

Responsibilities

• Act as the first point of escalation for complex or non-standard vetting cases.
• Maintain expert knowledge of AFRS vetting processes and checks.
• Undertake second checks and quality-control reviews.
• Design, deliver and maintain training and refresher sessions for Vetting Administrators.
• Coordinate work queues, priorities and resource deployment.
• Produce and explain operational MI and reporting against service levels.
• Deputise for the Vetting Team Manager during absence.
• Support policy and process changes and continuous improvement.
