Job summary

Vets Now Derby is seeking a Weekend Veterinary Nurse on a 12 months Fixed Term Contract from October 2026. The role offers weekend shifts with pay up to £17 per hour, DOE, plus benefits, and a 1:4 weekend rota.

You will join a team delivering emergency pet care, with duties including triage, anesthesia, surgery and in-patient care. RCVS registration for at least six months is required; ECC experience is advantageous.

Understanding your key role

Our nursing team are at the core of clinical treatment including triage, surgery, anaesthesia, and in-patient care. Key responsibilities will include:

• First Aid - give appropriate advice over the phone and perform in clinic.
• Critical Care - management and monitoring of major body systems, monitoring of in-patient trends and identifying changes quickly, physiotherapy, pain assessment, wound and dressing care.
• Diagnostics - confident to perform basic diagnostic procedures in a sole charge capacity.

Key requirements

• RCVS registered for a minimum of six months.
• Motivated to maintain high clinic standards.
• Passionate about caring for our clients and their pets.
• Experience with an ECC caseload is advantageous.
