Job summary

Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council is seeking a Workshop Manager to lead the busy vehicle workshop and MOT testing facility. You will direct a skilled team, ensure safety, compliance and high service levels to keep the fleet roadworthy and ready to support front-line services.

You will plan maintenance programmes, monitor performance, manage resources and liaise with suppliers and regulators to deliver a compliant and efficient fleet service across the borough.

Qualifications

• Significant experience in a transport, fleet or vehicle maintenance environment.
• Proven leadership and people management experience.
• Strong knowledge of vehicle maintenance legislation and DVSA requirements.
• Experience managing planned maintenance programmes and health and safety systems.
• Excellent organisational and communication skills; able to prioritise.
• Commitment to continuous improvement and customer service.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the vehicle workshop and MOT testing centre operations.
• Lead and develop a skilled maintenance team.
• Ensure compliance with DVSA standards and Operator Licence requirements.
• Plan and deliver scheduled maintenance and preventative maintenance.
