Job summary

A premier independent diagnostic specialist in Birmingham is expanding its workshop team and recruiting an experienced Vehicle Technician. The role offers £35,000–£45,000 base salary plus a workshop efficiency bonus, with a Monday–Friday schedule and Saturday rota.

You will diagnose multi-brand electronics, perform major mechanical repairs, and conduct routine health checks. Candidates should hold NVQ Level 3 or IMI Level 3 in Light Vehicle Maintenance & Repair, have a full UK driving licence,

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 / IMI Level 3 in Light Vehicle Maintenance & Repair (or equivalent time-served background).
• Full UK Driving Licence.
• MOT Tester status is advantageous but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Execute deep-level diagnostic fault isolation across multi-brand vehicle electronics, CAN-bus, and emissions systems.
• Perform major mechanical repairs, including timing chain/belt overhauls, gearbox replacements, clutch builds, and head gaskets.
• Conduct routine manufacturer-level servicing, health checks (VHC), and pre-MOT safety evaluations.
• Record accurate technical findings on digital job cards and brief service advisors on required repair paths.
• Maintain clean work bays, tool care, and standard workshop health and safety protocols.
