Job summary

Halfords seeks a Vehicle Technician/Mechanic in Preston to service, repair and diagnose vehicles, from routine maintenance to complex tasks such as clutches, timing belts and electrical diagnostics.

The role offers a base salary of £34,000 with an uncapped bonus averaging £7,100 per year, plus 5 days a week and extensive staff benefits. This is a full-time, on-site position within National Tyres and Autocare.

Qualifications

• Must have Level 3 in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair or time served experience.
• Must have a full UK driving licence with no more than 9 points.
• Experience diagnosing and repairing brakes, steering, suspension and electrical systems.

Responsibilities

• Carry out servicing and repair/replacement work.
• Diagnose faults in electrical and mechanical systems, including brakes, steering and suspension.
• Perform complex repairs such as clutches and timing belt replacements.

As a Vehicle Technician/ Mechanic, you will be already skilled in servicing and repair/replacement work. You’ll have the ability to carry out more complex tasks such as clutches and timing belt replacements and diagnostics in areas such as vehicle electrics, brake steering and suspension systems.

Skills and experience

• Must have a Level 3 in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair or equivalent OR time served experience
• Must have a full drivers licence with no more than 9 points
• Experienced Technician/Mechanic able to carry out diagnostic work (brakes, steering/suspension, engine) and more complex repair and replacements (coolant/diesel injectors, head gasket, brakes, electrical)
