Job summary

Halfords Bath is seeking a skilled Vehicle Technician/Mechanic to join our Autocentres team. You will service, repair and replace components, and undertake diagnostics with potential to handle clutches and timing belts.

A Level 3 in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair or time‑served experience is required, along with a full UK licence. We offer a competitive base salary £34,640–£41,240 with uncapped monthly bonus up to £6,600, 5.6 weeks’ annual leave, and substantial staff discounts.

Qualifications

• Must have a Level 3 in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair or time served experience.
• Must hold a full UK driving license with no more than 9 points.
• Experienced technician capable of diagnostics and complex repairs.

Responsibilities

• Carry out servicing, repair and replacement work.
• Perform diagnostics and handle complex repairs (brakes, steering/suspension, electrical).
• Work on clutches and timing belt replacements as needed.

As a Vehicle Technician/ Mechanic, you will be already skilled in servicing and repair/replacement work. You’ll have the ability to carry out more complex tasks such as clutches and timing belt replacements and diagnostics in areas such as vehicle electrics, brake steering and suspension systems.

Skills and experience

• Must have a Level 3 in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair or equivalent OR time served experience
• Must have a full drivers licence with no more than 9 points
• Experienced Technician/Mechanic able to carry out diagnostic work (brakes, steering/suspension, engine) and more complex repair and replacements (coolant/diesel injectors, head gasket, brakes, electrical)
