Job summary

Halfords in Newcastle-Upon-Tyne is recruiting a skilled Vehicle Technician/Mechanic to service and repair vehicles, including diagnostics and complex tasks like clutch and timing belt replacements. You’ll work to high standards and have opportunities to train toward ATA & MOT Tester qualifications.

You must have Level 3 in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair or time served, a full UK driving licence with up to 9 points, and be prepared for a 5‑day week with a comprehensive benefits package and

Qualifications

• Must have a Level 3 in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair or time served experience.
• Must have a full UK driving licence with no more than 9 points.
• Experienced Technician/Mechanic able to carry out diagnostic work (brakes, steering/suspension, engine) and more complex repair and replacements.

Responsibilities

• Servicing and repair/replacement work with capability for complex tasks (clutches, timing belts).
• Carry out diagnostics and repairs in areas such as electrics, brakes, steering and suspension.
• Progress within a nationwide service environment and pursue ATA & MOT Tester qualifications.

As a Vehicle Technician/ Mechanic, you will be already skilled in servicing and repair/replacement work. You’ll have the ability to carry out more complex tasks such as clutches and timing belt replacements and diagnostics in areas such as vehicle electrics, brake steering and suspension systems.

Skills and experience

• Must have a Level 3 in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair or equivalent OR time served experience
• Must have a full drivers licence with no more than 9 points
• Experienced Technician/Mechanic able to carry out diagnostic work (brakes, steering/suspension, engine) and more complex repair and replacements (coolant/diesel injectors, head gasket, brakes, electrical)
