Job summary

Halfords Garage Services in Grimsby is seeking a skilled Vehicle Technician/Mechanic to service and repair vehicles at our Fusion centre. You will handle diagnostics and more complex repairs as part of a growing Autocentres team in a leading automotive service business.

The role requires Level 3 in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair (or time‑served experience) with a full driving licence (≤9 points) and a track record in diagnostics and repairs across brakes, steering and electrical systems.

Qualifications

• Must have Level 3 in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair or time served experience.
• Full driver’s licence with no more than 9 points.
• Experience performing diagnostics on brakes, steering and suspension, engines and electrical systems.

Responsibilities

• Carry out servicing and repair/replacement work.
• Perform diagnostics and complex repairs (brakes, steering/suspension, engines).
• Handle tasks like clutches and timing belt replacements.

As a Vehicle Technician/ Mechanic, you will be already skilled in servicing and repair/replacement work. You’ll have the ability to carry out more complex tasks such as clutches and timing belt replacements and diagnostics in areas such as vehicle electrics, brake steering and suspension systems.

Skills and experience

• Must have a Level 3 in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair or equivalent OR time served experience
• Must have a full drivers licence with no more than 9 points
• Experienced Technician/Mechanic able to carry out diagnostic work (brakes, steering/suspension, engine) and more complex repair and replacements (coolant/diesel injectors, head gasket, brakes, electrical)
