Job summary

Halfords is recruiting a Vehicle Technician to join our growing Garage Services team in Cambridge. You will service and repair vehicles, carrying out more complex tasks such as clutch or timing belt work, diagnostics, and electrics.

A Level 3 in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair or time‑served experience is required, along with a full UK driving licence. You will benefit from a structured career path, hybrid training options, and access to a generous uncapped bonus scheme.

Qualifications

• Must have a Level 3 in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair or time served experience.
• Must have a full drivers licence with no more than 9 points.
• Experienced Technician/Mechanic able to carry out diagnostic work (brakes, steering/suspension, engine) and more complex repair and replacements.

Responsibilities

• Servicing and repair/replacement work.
• Carry out complex tasks such as clutches and timing belt replacements.
• Diagnostics in electrics, brakes, steering, suspension and related systems.

Comprising a base salary of £34,000 - £38,100
An uncapped monthly bonus scheme with average additional earnings of £6,900 per year.

Role Description

As a Vehicle Technician/Mechanic, you will be already skilled in servicing and repair/replacement work. You’ll have the ability to carry out more complex tasks such as clutches and timing belt replacements and diagnostics in areas such as vehicle electrics, brake steering, and suspension systems.

• Must have a Level 3 in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair or equivalent OR time served experience
• Must have a full drivers licence with no more than 9 points
• Experienced Technician/Mechanic able to carry out diagnostic work (brakes, steering/suspension, engine) and more complex repair and replacements (coolant/diesel injectors, head gasket, brakes, electrical)
