Job summary

Halfords Autocentres in Great Yarmouth, Norfolk, is hiring a Vehicle Technician/Mechanic. You will service and repair vehicles, including clutch and timing belt replacements and diagnostics on brakes, steering, suspension and electrical systems.

This full-time role offers £34,000–£38,100 base, up to £40,900 on-target earnings and an uncapped monthly bonus averaging £6,900 per year. A Level 3 in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair or time‑served experience plus a clean UK licence are required.

Qualifications

• Must have Level 3 in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair or time served experience.
• Must have a full UK driving licence with no more than 9 points.
• Experience with diagnostic work on brakes, steering/suspension, engine, and complex repairs (clutch/timing belt).

Responsibilities

• Service and repair vehicles including servicing and replacements.
• Perform diagnostics and more complex repairs on electrics, brakes, steering and suspension.

As a Vehicle Technician/ Mechanic, you will be already skilled in servicing and repair/replacement work. You’ll have the ability to carry out more complex tasks such as clutches and timing belt replacements and diagnostics in areas such as vehicle electrics, brake steering and suspension systems.

Skills and experience

• Must have a Level 3 in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair or equivalent OR time served experience
• Must have a full drivers licence with no more than 9 points
• Experienced Technician/Mechanic able to carry out diagnostic work (brakes, steering/suspension, engine) and more complex repair and replacements (coolant/diesel injectors, head gasket, brakes, electrical)
