Job summary

Royal Mail's Bristol Workshop is seeking a Level 3 qualified mechanic on a permanent contract. The role offers a competitive salary up to £70k per annum including overtime, and clear opportunities for career development.

You will work full time (39.5 hours) on a rotating shift pattern, with 1 in 3 Saturdays and possible night shifts in the future. Responsibilities include inspections, diagnostics, maintenance and repair of LCVs, HGVs and electric vehicles.

Qualifications

• IMI Level 3 qualification in light or heavy vehicle.
• Experience working on a wide range of vehicles (LCV/HGV).
• Full UK driving licence (HGV licence preferred).
• Willingness to work a shift rota and support the team.

About the role

We’re recruiting a Level 3 qualified mechanic on a permanent contract. The role offers a competitive salary up to £70k per annum including overtime, and opportunities for career development.

Working Hours

Full time – 39.5 hours per week, rotating shift pattern (week 1: 06:00‑14:30, week 2: 07:00‑15:30, week 3: 13:30‑22:00). You will work 1 in 3 Saturdays and may be asked to work a night shift in the future.

Responsibilities

• Perform inspections, diagnostics, maintenance and repair on a variety of vehicles including LCVs, HGVs, electric and traditional fuel vehicles.
• Carry out routine maintenance and repair work using your own toolkit; access specialist tools in the workshop.
• Support the team on change‑over and service demands.

Qualifications

• IMI Level 3 in light or heavy vehicle or equivalent.
• Experience working on a wide range of vehicles (LCV/HGV).
• Full manual UK driving licence, HGV licence preferred.
• High working standards and pride in workmanship.
• Flexibility to work in a shift rota and support the team.
