Job summary

Royal Mail Group in Exeter Workshop is seeking a Level 3 qualified mechanic for a permanent role. The salary is up to £50k including overtime, with a stable, diverse environment and location at Exeter Workshop.

This full‑time role (39.5 hours weekly) operates on a rotating pattern: Week 1 06:00–14:30, Week 2 07:00–15:30, Week 3 11:30–22:00, with one Saturday every three weeks. You’ll inspect, diagnose, maintain and repair on light and heavy vehicles, using your own toolkit in a modern workshop.

Qualifications

• Level 3 qualified mechanic in Light or Heavy vehicle.
• Proven experience on a wide range of vehicles (LCV/HGV).
• Owns a full manual UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, diagnose, maintain and repair vehicles, trailers and equipment.
• Use personal toolkit for routine maintenance on light and heavy goods vehicles.
• Access and use specialist tooling in modern workshops.

Join the largest, and greenest, fleet operator in the UK as a Level 3 qualified mechanic on a permanent contract. This role offers a competitive salary of up to £50 k including overtime and a stable, diverse work environment.

Working Hours

Full time – 39.5 hours per week on a rotating shift pattern (Week 1: 06:00‑14:30, Week 2: 07:00‑15:30, Week 3: 11:30‑22:00). On a rolling basis one Saturday per three weeks (06:00‑14:30) with a weekday day off.

Responsibilities

• Perform a full range of inspections, diagnostics, maintenance and repair procedures on vehicles, trailers and mechanical equipment.
• Use personal toolkit to undertake routine maintenance and repair on light and heavy goods vehicles.
• Access specialist tooling and shared equipment in modern, fully equipped workshops.

Qualifications

• Level 3 qualified mechanic in Light or Heavy vehicle (or equivalent). Own personal toolkit for standard repairs.
• Proven experience working on a wide range of vehicles, e.g. LCV and HGV.
• Full manual UK driving licence.
• High working standards – take pride in quality of work.
• Flexible and able to work on a rotating shift rota, supporting the team when required.
