Job summary

RECRUITMENT HELPLINE is seeking an experienced Field Service Engineer – Mobile Welfare Units to join a well-established UK-based team. You will attend sites, diagnose faults and repair mobile welfare cabins in the field, aiming for first-time fixes while working safely and unsupervised.

The role is van-based with regional travel to customer and hire sites, including remote diagnostics and hands-on work across generators, plumbing, electrical and telemetry systems.

Qualifications

• Proven multi-skilled field service / mobile-mechanic background (welfare units, generators, plant, HGV, marine, or similar).
• Diesel engine fault-finding and servicing (small industrial engines such as HATZ, Kubota, Lombardini, Perkins or equivalent).
• 12V/24V DC electrical fault-finding including wiring, fuses and inverters.
• Confident reading fault data / telemetry and working from remote diagnostics.
• Practical plumbing / water-system repair skills.
• Strong problem-solving and first-time-fix mindset; able to work alone unsupervised.
• Full UK driving licence; B+E towing entitlement or willingness to obtain.

Responsibilities

• Attend, diagnose and repair mobile welfare cabins in the field, restoring essential services first-time where possible.
• Work from a company van, covering breakdowns and warranty/service across sites, interpreting remote telemetry when needed.
• Perform diesel engine servicing, electrical checks, plumbing repairs and basic fabrication as required.
• Provide clear, written job reporting and maintain high safety standards on customer sites.
