Job summary

Tradewind Recruitment are working with a supportive Northampton secondary school to recruit an Unqualified Maths Teacher from September 2026. The role is a full-time long-term supply with potential for a permanent position, based in Northampton.

You will deliver Maths lessons to KS3/KS4, support students’ understanding and progress, and collaborate with experienced teachers. A maths degree and a proactive, adaptable approach are valued, with ongoing CPD and school-based development offered.

Qualifications

• A degree in Mathematics or a related subject.
• Experience tutoring or working with young people is advantageous.
• Confident communication and ability to build positive relationships with students.
• Willingness to pursue routes into teaching (PGCE/SCITT).
• Enhanced DBS on Update Service or willingness to apply for one.

Responsibilities

• Deliver Maths lessons across KS3 and KS4 using school resources and plans.
• Support students in developing understanding, fluency and problem-solving skills.
• Maintain a positive, calm classroom environment.
• Adapt teaching to meet varied abilities and needs.
• Provide encouragement to help students make progress.

Salary: 100- 165 per day, depending on experience and school requirements

Tradewind Recruitment is working in partnership with a supportive secondary school in Northampton that is looking to appoint an enthusiastic Unqualified Maths Teacher from September 2026.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Maths graduate, aspiring teacher, tutor, teaching assistant, or someone with strong subject knowledge who is ready to take the next step towards a career in education.

The Role

• Deliver engaging and well-structured Maths lessons across KS3 and KS4, using school-provided resources and lesson plans.
• Support students in developing their mathematical understanding, confidence, fluency, and problem-solving skills.
• Establish a positive, calm, and purposeful classroom environment.
• Adapt your approach to meet the needs of students with different abilities and learning needs.
• Provide support and encouragement to students to help them make progress.
• Work alongside experienced teachers and colleagues to develop your classroom practice.
• Support pupils with revision, intervention, and wider Maths activities where appropriate.
• Contribute positively to the wider school community and take advantage of professional development opportunities.

What We're Looking For

• A degree in Mathematics or a related subject, or strong demonstrable knowledge of Mathematics.
• Experience working with young people through tutoring, mentoring, coaching, youth work, or similar settings would be advantageous.
• Confident communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students.
• A reliable, proactive, and adaptable approach.
• The confidence to lead a classroom and maintain positive behaviour.
• A genuine interest in education and a desire to develop towards a teaching career.
• An interest in routes into teaching such as PGCE, SCITT, or school-based teacher training.
• An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one.
