Job summary

AXA XL in London is looking for an Underwriting Assistant to support the Marine or Energy units and assist with data entry, reporting, and renewal processes. The role offers a hybrid working arrangement and exposure to end-to-end policy lifecycle tasks within a global insurer.

You will work closely with underwriters and shared services teams, developing knowledge of the class of business, building broker relationships, and contributing to data-driven insights.

Qualifications

• Minimum A-level standard of education or equivalent business experience.
• Proficient use of Microsoft Excel with the ability to use VLOOKUPS/Pivots/formulae on a daily basis without guidance.
• Rational approach to complex data.
• Possess strong analytical and problem solving skills.
• Accurate and exceptional attention to detail.
• Excellent proactive organisation skills and ability to plan and prioritise work using their own initiative.

Responsibilities

• Assist Underwriters in recording risk details on source systems; build broker relationships; develop knowledge of the class of business and the accounts written.
• Liaise with underwriters to ensure correct interpretation of data for accuracy and completeness.
• Maintain underwriting documentation/files; keep documentation in order.
• Liaise with Credit Control team - answer queries, track and monitor premium using core underwriting systems.
• Collaborate with underwriting support functions to respond to regular control and exception reports, including data entry and adherence to standards.
• Develop requirements for statistical and insightful reports for Underwriting.
• Monitor renewal lists and coordinate as required.
• Support delegated underwriting renewal process alongside underwriters, pricing, claims and governance.
• Work with shared services to ensure accurate and timely service to our Underwriters and Clients.
