Job summary

AXA XL in London is seeking a Senior Underwriter for its Downstream Energy portfolio to drive growth and manage risk as a long-term partner to brokers and clients.

You will underwrite renewals and new business, shape underwriting strategies, monitor exposure and premium performance, and mentor peers while maintaining compliance with guidelines.

This is a regulated, senior role reporting to the Underwriting Manager within AXA XL.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent).
• High level of technical knowledge in Energy Downstream products and markets.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities with sales/marketing acumen.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite, manage and service renewal books and develop new business in line with Energy unit goals.
• Exercise discretion and independent judgment in risk analysis.
• Negotiate with producers within delegated authority to achieve profit objectives.
• Build and maintain relationships with brokers and clients; identify new distribution channels.
• Monitor exposure and premium income, ensure compliance with guidelines and regulatory requirements.
