Worcester Bosch invites applications for a 12-month placement year starting summer 2027. You will gain insight into a world-renowned heating brand with a culture of support and community.

This internship offers exposure to manufacturing processes, lean initiatives and cross-functional collaboration within a leading UK company. The role requires an engineering-focused undergraduate, with NX CAD proficiency and a keen eye for detail.

Qualifications

• Be an undergraduate student pursuing a 12-month placement as part of an engineering degree.
• Proficient with 3D CAD, ideally NX, and able to read and create technical drawings.
• Strong planning, organisation and ability to adapt to changing working environments.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to work in a team and independently.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and implement new manufacturing processes and tooling.
• Optimize processes for efficiency, throughput, quality and cost.
• Create and maintain process documentation and control plans.
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives using lean principles.
• Support daily operations, troubleshoot equipment issues and provide training.

Job Description

Join us for your 12 month placement year in summer 2027! Our internships are designed to give you an insight into what it's like to work for a world-renowned brand with a culture of support and community.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement new manufacturing processes, equipment, and tooling.
• Optimize existing manufacturing processes for efficiency, throughput, quality, and cost reduction.
• Develop and maintain detailed process documentation, including work instructions, process flow diagrams, and control plans.
• Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives using lean manufacturing principles (e.g., 5S, Kaizen, Value Stream Mapping).
• Lead or participate in Root Cause Analysis for production issues and implement corrective and preventative actions.
• Drive efforts to reduce scrap, rework, and waste.
• Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and implement permanent solutions.
• Collaborate with Production to support daily operations, resolve technical issues, and provide training.
• Communicate effectively with all levels of the organization.
• Contribute to a safe and healthy work environment.

Qualifications

Please note that to be eligible for this role, you must be an undergraduate student seeking a placement year as part of your degree - if you do not meet these criteria please consider applying for other positions.

• Be an undergraduate student (studying an Engineering focused degree) with a desire to complete a 12-month work placement as part of degree studies.
• Be a capable 3D CAD user, ideally NX, and able to interpret & create technical drawings.
• Good organisational and planning skills with the ability to prioritise workload.
• Has the ability to adapt quickly to changing working environments and is ready to embrace new ways of working through digitalisation.
• Has the confidence to challenge and create new ideas.
• Has the capability to work well in a team as well as independently, using own initiative.
• Has a quality mind-set with high attention to detail.
• Can communicate confidently with people at all levels, both written and verbal (including on the telephone).
• IT literate and confident in using MS Office packages as well as learning Company systems.

Contract Duration: 1 year

Working Hours: 39 hours per week – standard working pattern of 07:00 – 16:00 Monday to Thursday and 07:00 – 15:00 Friday with a 1-hour lunchbreak
