Bosch Thermotechnology Ltd. invites you to join its Worcester Bosch division for a 13-month undergraduate placement year in Manufacturing Engineering.

You'll gain hands-on experience at Clay Cross in the Weld and Press areas, contribute to continuous improvement, and lead small projects while developing problem-solving and project-management skills.

Applicants should be engineering undergraduates, with driving licence, right to work in UK, and a proactive, detail-oriented mindset.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate student pursuing an engineering-focused degree.
• Willing to undertake a 13-month placement as part of degree.
• Organisational and planning skills with ability to prioritise workload.
• Adaptable to changing environments and able to challenge and generate ideas.
• Initiative and team working capability.
• High attention to detail and clear written/verbal communication.
• IT literacy and familiarity with MS Office; willing to learn Bosch systems.

Responsibilities

• Improve and maintain day-to-day operations at Clay Cross Manufacturing plant (Weld and Press).
• Assist in Weld and Press projects at the site.
• Lead and participate in Continuous Improvement projects.
• Support launch of new products and changes to existing products.
• Ensure compliance with manufacturing legislation.
• Create and upkeep SOPs.
• Balance office work with hands-on shop floor tasks.
• Trouble-shoot live issues to keep production running.

We are looking for someone who wants to have a real impact on our organisation, who is willing to learn from industrial professionals but who can also bring a new set of ideas to problems. The projects you will be working on will be broad-ranging and varied in size, giving you exposure to the principles of manufacturing engineering & technology and, how a project environment operates.

In this role, you will be responsible for:

• Improving and maintaining the day-to-day operation of the Clay Cross Manufacturing plant within the Weld and Press areas.
• Assist in Weld and Press projects in the manufacturing site
• Participating in and leading Continuous Improvement Projects
• Supporting the launch of new products into the plant and changes to existing products
• Ensuring that we meet internal and external legislation for the manufacturing process
• Upkeep and creation of SOPs
• A good balance of office work and being hands on in a shop floor environment
• Problem solving on live issues on manufacturing processes to keep production going

Please note that to be eligible for this role, you must be an undergraduate student seeking a placement year as part of your degree - if you do not meet these criteria please consider applying for other positions.

Our ideal candidate must have:

• Undergraduate student (studying an Engineering focused degree) with a desire to complete a 13-month work placement as part of degree studies.
• Organisational and planning skills with the ability to prioritise workload.
• Adaptable to changing working environments
• Confident to challenge and create new ideas.
• Capable of exercising initiative individually and in a team.
• High attention to detail.
• Can communicate confidently with people at all levels of seniority, both written and verbal.
• IT literate and confident in using MS Office packages as well as learning Bosch and industry specialist systems.

Our ideal candidate should have:

• Full and valid Driving Licence
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes including welding, assembly, testing and automation.
• Knowledge of quality tools e.g. FMEA, SPC, Capability studies
• Understanding of Lean manufacturing techniques e.g. Pull system, Just-in-time, waste elimination

Contract Duration: 1 year

Working Hours:39 hours per week - standard working pattern of 07:00-16:00 Monday to Thursday with a 30minute unpaid lunchbreak and 07:00-12:00 Friday
