Job summary

Modal is seeking a People Operations Generalist for the UK to own day-to-day people operations across onboarding, payroll coordination, and employee changes. You’ll partner with the broader People team on global programs and help run the London office, collaborating with Recruiting on candidate experience.

Based in London, you’ll be the go-to for UK employees and managers, ensuring compliant processes and smooth administration in a fast-growing environment.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of People Operations or HR experience, ideally with fast-growing UK tech companies.
• Strong knowledge of UK employment practices, payroll, benefits, and pensions.
• Able to work independently, own processes, and escalate when needed.
• Highly organized with multiple priorities in a fast-moving environment.

Responsibilities

• Own day-to-day People Operations for UK employees, including onboarding, changes, leave, documentation, and offboarding.
• Be the first point of contact for UK employees and managers and escalate complex matters as needed.
• Partner with payroll, benefits, pension, and external providers for smooth UK administration.
• Keep People data and processes accurate, compliant, and up to date.
• Build and improve UK People processes and self-service resources as we scale.
• Execute global People programs locally for the UK team.
• Oversee London office operations and coordinate with Workplace and Recruiting teams.
• Coordinate onsite interviews and support candidate experience for UK hires.
• Plan and support local employee events and initiatives.
