Job summary

Chemtech Environmental is seeking a Preparation Technician for twilight shift (18:00-22:00) in our County Durham laboratory. You will prepare samples and subsamples (soils, solids, water, leachates), maintain logs, and ensure accurate documentation.

Join a hands-on team focused on safety, accuracy and timely delivery. You will help keep operations running smoothly, with overtime opportunities and a performance-based bonus.

Qualifications

• GCSE English and Maths required; chemistry-related degree beneficial.
• Good working knowledge of Excel and lab systems/processes; ability to learn quickly.

Responsibilities

• Prepare samples and subsamples (soils, solids, water, leachates) and keep logs accurate.
• Keep Sample Preparation area tidy and stock supplies as needed.
• Promote health & safety and ensure PPE usage.
• Store samples properly and prepare for testing or subcontracting as required.
• Maintain equipment and perform routine checks and troubleshoot issues.
• Support quality checks and flag potential problems early.
• Be a team player, support sampling activities and help colleagues.
